After some angsty art pop for the summer? Scottish art-pop heroes The Vegan Leather land The Hit, the new single to be taken from forthcoming debut album Poor Girls / Broken Boys due for release this October via Midnight Pink/Believe Digital. It’s the band’s catchiest tune to date, with vibrant hooks, rhythmic synths and a vibrant chorus, all of which descends into a rocky ending.
The Hit was born after vocallist Marie Collinsand co-vocalist Gian Bernacchi attended a march against sexual violence in their hometown of Paisley, before heading to a studio session. ‘The name is fashioned from the use of a double entendre by alluding to violence against women, whilst making a reference to the increasing pressures of creating a ‘hit’ song,’ Marie explains.
