Painted Palms – Forever

Painted Palms have been described as having been influenced by The Beatles. Who hasn’t. Looping psych melodies and jangling tripping sounds, they take Revolver esque elements and later beats and glitches like sedimental layers between them, merging music from all eras into something fresh, such as the exploratory driving hooks that propel lead single Spinning Signs. Reese Donahue and Christopher Prudhomme have always used the internet – at first out of necessity, later out of preference – to collaborate on their songwriting. Cousins who grew up four blocks apart they subsequently have found themselves many states apart, but technology bridges those barriers. Vocal ping pong and multi instrument interplay are an example of how the process of creation influences the content output itself. One of Polyvinyl’s hottest new acts Painted Palms their forthcoming debut full-length Forever is out in January.
