I don’t know what to say.
But that’s not very helpful for a medium that relies on me writing something. Delicate Steve doesn’t sound particularly delicate. This is no bearded loner wandering with a guitar and strumming melancholy songs of heartbreak. Sonically and physically (check out the limber movement in the video) new tune Cartoon Rock effervesces with cheerful dexterity, creating wordless wizadry on six strings that gleefully shocks the listener, before they begin to tap their feet. Splices of polychromatic dazzlement, bouyant melodies bring along some radiant mirth, much needed in the January gloom.
He’s collaborated and supported artists including Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, Dirty Projectors, Paul Simon and t-U-n-E-y-A-r-Ds, which has obviously been taking up the last four years since an album hit our shelves. This is Steve will be out on ANTI on January 27th, and is billed as an introduction to the man behind the moniker. Like anyone, he’s a multilayered kind of man, and so don’t expect rainbows in every song, but do expect to be surprised and entertained.
