Hunter As A Horse – The Passenger

Coming out from their shadowy break, London Berlin duo Hunter As A Horse are back with The Passenger, a haunting piece of psychedelic swirl that only their genre tag ‘folk-synth’ comes close to describing. Atmospheric whispering vocals from Mia van Wyck (also on guitar) are evocative of the Tuscan forest mountains in which they camped out for recording, wanting to ‘cut ties with the influences of the city and reconnect with nature in order to create something deeply honest and fearless.’ Cinematic synths and machines from Paul Gala create a mood of eeriness and introspection. All this is not to say that it sounds ephemeral in any way. Instead it’s solid and powerful, intensely erupting with dark thrills and blistering sourcery.

The Two Magics. Vol. 1, produced by Paul Gala and Ewan Pearson, is released on 21 April 2016 and available to pre order now.
