God moves in mysterious ways. Turnpike Glow, the blissfully original pop trio that captivated many local listeners over the last few years came to an end a few months ago when one third of the band heard his calling and decided to join the priesthood. Music stops for no man, or god, and so Sandro has continued with his calling and a new project, Pertini. First single Late Bloomer is all bubbling echoes and layers that evoke the sound of happy quacking birds, lunging about with vivacity and passion. Two minutes in there’s a descent in MGMT magic, Sandro, Clara and Kevin working together to create an alchemic blend of joyous melodies that are almost round like in their simplicity, the depth coming from arrangement. Keep a look out – and hope that divine intervention doesn’t strike again soon.
