When an email subject line says ‘scouse skiffle’ you know you’ve got to open it. Welcome The Incredible Magpie Band. All the obvious influences are there – The Las, The Coral, Captain Beefheart and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (although it’s Liam who has supported the band online and instore at Pretty Green) – but rather than tired it’s a strangely refreshing mix of buoyant rhythms, smattering magical loops and dizzy yet tight drums.
